This UK-supplied 1967 Volkswagen Beetle is a superbly cherished, matching-numbers example that stands out for its originality and provenance. Elaborating on its history, the sale of this Beetle includes a folder packed with documentation, featuring its original green paper registration logbook and the original bill of sale from 1967 for £691. The servicing records trace right back to its first 300-mile running service in July 1967, with invoices for maintenance and annual servicing continuing to the present day. It also comes with a USB containing a collection of images spanning the years, along with detailed spreadsheets documenting every service and maintenance job, ready for you to continue its story.
This Beetle holds a familiar presence at Absolute VW, belonging to a loyal customer who has been its proud companion for the past 21 years. It carries many cherished memories, having been the chosen car for several family weddings. Now, the time has come for its owner to pass it on to someone who will appreciate and care for it just as much.
In 2015, we carried out preparation work for the owner’s wedding, which included repainting the bonnet, roof, front valance, front quarter panels and engine lid in its original Lotosweiß (Lotus White) L282 paint, with the wheels powder-coated in the original “salt and pepper” finish. More recently, in May 2025, we fitted a new starter motor, replaced the front shock absorbers and completed a thorough engine service and mechanical check-over. This Beetle has always been exceptionally well presented since the very first day it rolled into our workshop.
Its owner stated, “I’ve endeavoured to keep the car as original as possible.” While it retains all of its 1967 features, there are a few tasteful upgrades that this Beetle benefits from. These include a 12-volt conversion completed in 1993, and in 1994, the original owner replaced the front and rear arches with Day Mouldings fibreglass equivalents, finished in matching Lotus White paintwork. In early 2025, the original Blaupunkt radio was converted to Bluetooth which plays through a RetroSound dashboard speaker.
Inside, the car features all of its original furnishings and dashboard components. Period-correct additions such as a Bambus parcel shelf and original pop-out rear windows complement the cabin beautifully.
The mechanical investment over the years has served this Beetle well, with an extensive history of annual servicing that has kept it running in excellent order. We can confirm that this Beetle’s 1300cc engine starts first time, every time.
