Absolute VW was founded in 2006 by Simon Kerr. The aim then – and still now – was to deliver a service based on three core values; quality workmanship, attention to detail and customer satisfaction. After years of building an incredible breadth of knowledgeable and a superior team focused on delivering a quality level of service, Absolute VW are now the leading specialists of their sector in the East Midlands.

Since founding, Absolute VW has distinguished itself as a specialist in classic Volkswagens, Transporters, camper vans, and air-cooled vehicles manufactured by Volkswagen and Porsche. Our comprehensive range of services encompasses everything from complete restorations to routine maintenance and servicing. Whatever your needs may be, rest assured that we possess the expertise and capability to fulfil them.

Between 2006 and 2023, Absolute VW operated from its premises in Castle Donnington. Since 2023, the business has transitioned to its newly refurbished and fully equipped bespoke workshop spanning 2,500 square metres, situated in Shardlow, Derbyshire.

Absolute VW also provides a selection of high-quality pre-owned vehicles available for purchase. Whether you seek a timeless Volkswagen model or a newly crafted Transporter Camper Van, we may possess the means to unlock a new adventure for you. I first arranged a viewing which took place on a ramp with a very detailed walk around with Simon in which he pointed out all of the flaws obvious and not so that I entered into the purchase with my eyes fully wide and open.

Simon and the team were very pragmatic and we agreed to work through the issues in stages.
Get it running/MOT/Service.
A breath of fresh air, as an ex mechanic I'm always dubious but Simon was on the phone every step of the way. It really couldn't have gone smoother, unfortunately for us the bus had been neglected for many years and we were almost ready to call it a day.

We are the proud owners of “Bonnie” a 1988 T25 1.9 petrol engine with a high top,  not perfect by any means but we wanted a RHD T25. There’s a list of things that need doing but Simon helped us prioritise the things that needed doing first so we can enjoy the van this summer. The key jobs that have been sorted out so far include a leaking skylight, which proved to be a challenge as it had to be modified to fit perfectly. The second job was getting the engine to run better. They will be stripping down the carburettor in the autumn but for now it’s been “tweaked”, runs great and it doesn’t cut out when it’s cold. They also found the source of a leak in the passenger footwell. This again was a bigger job; there was a rotten area at the corner of the windscreen. They managed to cut the rotten area out and weld in a new piece and seal it properly so no more leaks. In time we’ve been advised thatit may need a more solid weld bit for now it’s great. We’re glad Absolute VW are close by. Simon and the team really know these vehicles well. We know that it will take a long time and regular maintenance to keep Bonnie running but that’s OK, she’s nearly 40 years old, and we know she’s in good hands.

They were very professional and friendly. Since then, she runs so smoothly. We have just dropped it off for an MOT. It's Sunday and we have just dropped off our T4 as we can't drop it on during their working hours due to work. Wow, they have a secure and easy process to leave vehicles out of hours.
